Club Alpbach Zurich is a non-profit association based in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 2018 under article 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, our goal is to grant scholarships to young people to attend the European Forum Alpbach. Our statutes can be found here.

Our Network

We are part of the Forum Alpbach Network, a large network of regional clubs based in Europe and beyond. All clubs enable students from their respective countries to attend the European Forum Alpbach. But even more importantly, they form an Alumni network of extraordinary young professionals and academics. Check out some of our nearest neighbours here:


We are four Alumni of the European Forum Alpbach 2018 who are currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. From particle physics to cryptocurrencies, from financial mathematics to the banking sector – we have a diverse range of interests and experiences in our team.

Michael Weinold, President

Michael is currently studying Engineering Physics at ETH Zürich in Switzerland. He completed his undergraduate studies at Vienna University of Technology, Austria. Originally from Innsbruck, Austria, he has spent considerable time abroad, most recently in Belgium and the Philippines. When he’s not studying or working for Club Alpbach Zurich, he can be found hiking the Karwendel Mountains. As president, he coordinates all Club activities and is the primary contact, together with Hanna, the Club’s spokeswoman.

Fanni Pimper, Vice President

Fanni is currently working at Credit Suisse as an intern in Zürich, Switzerland. Originally from Hungary, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Business and Economics in Vienna, Austria. During her Bachelors she spent two semesters in Spain – first as an Erasmus exchange student and then as an intern. For her masters she studied at EADA Business School in Barcelona. When she is not working, you can meet her at the yoga studio or on the squash court. She also likes hiking, learning languages and reading. As vice president of Club Alpbach she hopes to welcome you soon among the club members or at club events!

Hanna Wutte, Spokeswoman

Hanna currently pursues a doctorate in Mathematics as part of the Insurance Mathematics and Stochastic Finance group at ETH Zürich. Born and raised in Klagenfurt, Austria, Hanna completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics at Vienna University of Technology, Austria. Moreover, she holds another Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance from Vienna University of Economics and Business. As Club Alpbach Zürich’s spokeswoman, she is responsible for all external communication and as is the primary contact for inquiries.

Mark C. Ballandies, Quaestor

Mark is a research assistant and PhD student at the professorship of Computational Social Science at ETH Zurich. His thesis is concerned with multi-dimensional incentive systems for information sharing, where he combines the fields of semantic networks, recommender systems and ethical data sharing. He is an alumnus of the Foundation of German Business, president of the NGO educationmatters e.V. and consultant for novel technologies. As the treasurer of Club Albach Zurich, he coordinates the scholarship program and is responsible for club finances.

Jakob Weissteiner, External Relations Manager

Jakob is a Ph.D. student in the Computation and Economics Research Group at the University of Zurich. His research deals with the application of machine learning methods in market design. Born in Upper Austria, he received his B.Sc. (2015) and M.Sc. (2018) in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics from the Technical University of Vienna. Furthermore, he holds another Master’s degree (M.Sc. WU (2018)) in Quantitative Finance from the Vienna University of Economics and Business. In his free time he particularly likes to play tennis and soccer.

Aladar Tepelea, External Relations Manager

Aladar Tepelea is supporting investors, corporations and startups as a co-entrepreneur, management consultant, board advisor and investor in various tech startups being a co-founder at the Swiss Crypto Accelerator, Venture Catalyst at Evitive and employee experience partner for well-being consulting at Beastmotion. Beforehand he helped raise the $25 million ICO of Proxeus as interim CFO as well as a Series B equity fundraising round of a MedTech company backed by members of the Siemens family. Prior to that he was part of the Country Management team for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe at BlackRock. In his role as Business Manager he worked on corporate development focusing on topics around M&A, corporate strategy, Venture Capital and FinTech innovation as well as strategic partnerships and expansion, located in Zurich. Before BlackRock, Aladar has been with Novartis where he worked in Corporate Finance, being the strategic assistant of the Animal Health global division CFO in Basel. Aladar studied Business Administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
